Smart China Expo (SCE) is co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, PRC; National Development and Reform Commission, PRC; Ministry of Science and Technology, PRC; Cyberspace Administration of China; China Association for Science and Technology; Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore and Chongqing Municipal People’s Government. Since 2018 when the SCE was first held in Chongqing, it has been successfully held for five consecutive years. General Secretary Xi Jinping has sent 3 congratulatory letters to the SCE. The then Vice Premier Han Zheng and Liu He and State Councilor Wang Yong attended and addressed the opening ceremony. This has demonstrated the great care of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council for the SCE. During the past five years, the SCE has been committed to promoting the development of digital economy and smart industries. The SCE is improving its efficiency and quality, with increasing attention and greater participation from home and abroad. In the past editions, there has been a total exhibition area of around 540,000 m2, more than 3,000 exhibitors, 161 forums, over 200 Chinese and international experts, more than 150 leaders from the Fortune Global 500 companies, 433 deliverable presentations, and more than 400 new products released.

Smart China Expo 2023 will be held on September 4-6, 2023, at Chongqing International Expo Center to fully implement the important ideas and proposals presented by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the development of digital economy and his instructions that “Chongqing should continue to host the Smart China Expo with high standards and be an integral part of the international cooperation of the digital economy”. The SCE 2023 will continue to attract more international participation, become more specialized, and emphasize market orientation. It aims to promote international cooperation in science and technology, industry, economy, and trade. It will focus on “Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicles (ICNEVs)”and Digital China，etc., the themes of this year. During the SCE 2023, major activities will be organized, including but not limited to the Opening Ceremony and Summit, exhibitions, forums, contests, and deliverable presentations.

First, Opening Ceremony and Summit will be held. There will be speeches from CPC and state leaders, foreign dignitaries, representatives from international organizations, and leaders of co-hosts. Famous Chinese and international entrepreneurs will make keynote speeches and engage in high-level dialogues on the hot topics of Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicles (ICNEVs).

Second, Exhibition Zones will be set up. The SCE aims to showcase the achievements in developing the ICNEVs industry, with a particular focus on cutting-edge technologies and the latest products in specialized segments such as automotive components. There will be exhibition areas on general topics, specialized segments, and regional cooperation.

Third, multiple forums will be organized. With a focus on the ICNEVs, the SCE will stage thematic forums on topics such as Cooperative Vehicle Infrastructure System (CVIS) and Intelligent Cockpit Platform. Famous experts and professionals in the industry will be invited to share and exchange their forward-looking insights and best practices.

Fourth, a series of contests will be introduced. The SCE will hold a collection of high-quality competitions for ICNEVs and Integrated Circuits (ICs). Specialized racetracks and international teams will be highlights. The SCE will also reinforce the integration of contests, industrial development, and technological applications. These contests will drive and guide industry development, expand the interaction and cooperation among markets, companies, and research institutions, and serve as high-level platforms for project implementation and talent attraction.

Fifth, deliverables presentations will be held. The SCE will work with ministries, national commissions, industry associations, professional institutions, and renowned companies to host launching events. These events will encompass important industry policies, standards, ranking lists, application scenarios, and the debut of new technologies and products.
