Chongqing Normal University, founded in 1954, is a multi-disciplinary institution of higher learning with arts and sciences as the main and multi-disciplinary coordinated development. The university always adheres to the concept of "establishing education without classes and educating people with cultures", abides by the motto spirit of "virtue, learning, ambition and innovation", bases itself on the west of China, takes root in Chongqing and serves the whole country. In 2017, it was approved as a master's degree recommendation unit, and in 2018, it was approved as a doctor's degree conferring unit. In 2020, its comprehensive strength rose to the top 200 universities in China.

The total area of the university is 2688 mu (a Chinese unit of area), including three campuses: University Town Campus, Shapingba Campus and Beibei Campus. There are 17 secondary colleges with more than 30,000 students, including more than 24,000 full-time undergraduates, more than 5,700 graduate students and more than 230 international students. There are more than 2,100 on-the-job faculty members, including more than 1,000 with senior professional titles and doctors, and more than 1,000 doctoral supervisors and master supervisors.

In recent years, the university has seized the favorable opportunity of the construction of the National Science and Technology Innovation Center and the Science City, aiming at improving the core competitiveness of scientific research, and has achieved major breakthroughs in high-level scientific research innovation platform, high-level scientific research projects, high-level scientific research awards, etc. Our university has 85 high-level innovation platforms and teams, including one of the first batch of national applied mathematics centers, the base for introducing talents through discipline innovation in colleges and universities (the "111 Program"), the key laboratory of the Ministry of Education for Optimization and Control, the engineering research center of the Ministry of Education for Biotechnology of Active Substances, the key laboratory for the protection and utilization of pollinating insect resources in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the newly-built think tanks such as the Chongqing University Party Construction Research Advisory Center and Chongqing Development Research Institute. We have nearly 400 national-level projects such as major, key and excellent youth projects of the National Fund; We have won more than 110 scientific research awards at or above provincial and ministerial level, such as the second prize of National Natural Science Award, the first prize of Natural Science Award of Ministry of Education, the second prize of Excellent Achievements of Humanities and Social Sciences in Colleges and Universities of Ministry of Education, and the Outstanding Contribution Award of Chongqing City and Technology.

Through the in-depth cooperation between the university and the local government, a set of multi-disciplinary, all-round, three-dimensional and comprehensive regional service mode with the characteristics of valuing teachers has been constructed, which has become the backbone and actively plays a supporting role in the fields of regional economic construction and social development such as electronic information, biomedicine, advanced manufacturing, environmental protection, smart agriculture, new materials and new technologies, and advisory services.
