China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “CETC”) is an important state-owned key enterprise directly managed by the central government, also the main force of China's military electronics industry, national force of cybersecurity industry and national strategic scientific and technological strength. CETC has a relatively complete technological innovation system in the electronics industry, and shoulders the important responsibility of supporting technological self-reliance and self-improvement, promoting modernization of national defence, accelerating the development of the digital economy, and serving the people's livelihood.

Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, it has undergone historical changes such as the First Ministry of Machine Building, the Third Ministry of Machine Building, the Fourth Ministry of Machine Building, the 10th Research Institute of the National Defense Science and Technology Commission, Ministry of Machine Building and Electronics Industry, Ministry of Electronics and Ministry of Information Industry. In March 2002, with the approval of the State Council, China Electronics Technology Group Company was established on the basis of 46 electronic research institutes and 26 enterprises directly under the former Ministry of Information. In December 2017, it completed restructuring and was renamed China Electronics Technology Group Corporation. In June 2021, with the approval of the State Council, Potevio Company Limited was merged into China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of CETC.

At present, CETC has over 700 enterprises and institutions, including 47 national research institutes and 18 listed companies. It has over 230,000 employees, of which 55% are research and development personnel. It has 41 state key laboratories, research centers and innovation centers. And it has been selected as one of the Fortune Global 500 for many years.

Guided by the “one goal” of building a world-class enterprise, CETC focuses on strengthening the Party leadership and building, supporting technological self-reliance and self-improvement, serving the mechanization, informatization, and intelligent integration development of weapons and equipment, enhancing the modernization level of the industrial chain and supply chain and accelerating digital development, promoting the three-year action plan for state-owned enterprises (SOE) reform, preventing and resolving major risks, and firmly strengthening, optimizing, and expanding.
