Chongqing - With additional 780 high-tech enterprises in the first half year, Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area is leading in the city's innovation landscape.

The launch of Chongqing's "Double Increase" action plan for high-tech and technology-based enterprises (2023-2027), set in motion this March, further underscores its commitment to fostering a thriving ecosystem for technological progress.

The plan has ambitious goals set for 2025 to cultivate over 10,000 high-tech enterprises and more than 67,000 technology-based enterprises.

High-tech enterprises are assessed based on their scientific and technological innovation capabilities, including core intellectual property, technology transfer ability, research and development organizational management, and various growth indicators.

Yu Jingqiu, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Liangjiang New Area, said that the area continuously propels businesses to enhance their innovation capabilities, particularly in the automotive, electronics, and equipment manufacturing sectors.

An example is Peg-Bio Biopharm Co., Ltd., a biomedical enterprise in Liangjiang New Area. The company's dedication to technical research and development has borne fruit, as their self-developed therapeutic biologic drug for treating childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia-pegylated recombinant L-asparaginase injection receives official approval for clinical trials.

Chongqing CRRC Railway Vehicle Co., Ltd. (Chongqing CRRC) has emerged as a powerhouse in the equipment manufacturing sector, solidifying its position as a leading enterprise in Chongqing. As the world's most extensive monorail vehicle research and manufacturing base, the company has supplied nearly 3,000 urban rail vehicles to domestic and international markets.

This February, the company unveiled China's first multi-adaptive medium capacity monorail system rail vehicle in Liangjiang New Area.

This cutting-edge model boasts strong climbing abilities, a small turning radius, and adaptability to diverse environments. With a top speed of 80 km/h, the vehicle caters to various transportation needs in tourist spots and cities with unique requirements.

Incorporating advanced technologies such as carbon fiber composite materials, integrated traction, braking systems, merged train control systems, and electronic mechanical braking results in a lightweight vehicle with an axle load of merely 9 tons, thus reducing approximately 15% in earthwork construction.

Liangjiang New Area plans to continue advancing high-tech and technology-based enterprises with complementary policies supported. The area aims to house 1,350 high-tech enterprises by 2025, reinforcing its commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement throughout the city.
