HP Signs Agreement with Chongqing University on AI Laboratory

Chongqing - Chongqing Municipal People's Government recently held a meeting with a delegation of Hewlett Packard (HP), and both sides witnessed the launch of HP's global innovation initiative, which involved HP advanced technology research and development (R&D) action and the signing of an industry-university-research collaboration agreement.

The collaboration agreement between HP and Chongqing University will focus on joint initiatives such as establishing an artificial intelligence application innovation laboratory, developing new alloy materials and processes, and promoting talent cultivation and exchange.

Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People's Government said that he hopes HP would continue to regard Chongqing as a major global production base with more orders to the city.

Additionally, Hu encouraged HP to accelerate new product research and development, attract more supporting enterprises, engage in collaborative innovation, and drive the development of the industrial chain.

According to Hu, Chongqing is promoting the implementation of "national major strategies," such as fostering the "33618" modern manufacturing cluster system, advancing the construction of Digital Chongqing, and developing the electronic information manufacturing industry.

The "33618" modern manufacturing cluster system of Chongqing is to form three dominant industrial clusters for electronic information manufacturing, intelligent connected and new energy vehicles, and advanced materials. Chongqing is strengthening efforts to foster its six key industrial sectors.

Zhuang Zhengsong, global vice president and president of HP Greater China, said that HP will leverage its own technological and resource advantages, optimize its strategic layout, and contribute to the development of Chongqing's electronic information manufacturing industry, thereby supporting the construction of the new modernized Chongqing.

HP has a production base for personal computers and foreign equipment in Chongqing, one of the largest production bases in the world. They have expanded the PC R&D and testing center in Chongqing this year, including a failure analysis laboratory to support HP's extensive product portfolio, according to Jason Juang, managing director of HP Greater China with China Daily.
