Vibracoustic's Chongqing Factory Sparks New Growth in ICV Industry Cluster
Time:2023-08-04

The Chongqing factory of Vibracoustic, an automotive shock absorber project under the Vibracoustic Corporation, has commenced production in Chongqing’s Liangjiang New Area recently, injecting fresh vitality into Chongqing’s intelligent connected new energy vehicle (ICV) industry cluster.

Vibracoustic Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the German Freudenberg Group, holds a prominent position in the automotive shock absorber field, serving global automakers with its products and services. With 40 manufacturing bases and technology centers spread across 17 countries, Vibracoustic achieved an impressive sales volume of 2.5 billion euros in 2022.

Spanning approximately 16,400 square meters with a total investment of 170 million yuan (about 23.6 million U.S. dollars), the Chongqing factory primarily focuses on manufacturing Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) products. It is dedicated to delivering high-quality product solutions to Chinese automakers.

“By leveraging Vibracoustic’s extensive global manufacturing experience, the Chongqing factory has implemented sustainable manufacturing facilities and processes,” said Tao Dongming, the General Manager of the Chongqing factory of Vibracoustic.

The factory has also invested in a fully automated surface treatment line to ensure precision and consistency in the manufacturing process, elevating the quality and fatigue life of the products.

Additionally, adopting Regenerative Thermal Oxidation (RTO) catalytic combustion equipment allows for effective management and reduction of carbon emissions.

“We are also planning to introduce a water-based adhesive production line in Chongqing, which will replace the traditional solvent-based process, reducing carbon emissions during manufacturing and creating a safer production process,” Tao added.

During the factory construction, the Chongqing factory delivered over 70 products and automobile NVH solutions to more than 20 clients.

Tao expressed confidence in the factory’s prospects, with Chongqing’s robust industrial base and complete industrial chain. He emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable development by expanding its regional customer base, nurturing local talent, and introducing advanced automated production technology.

Liangjiang New Area, as the primary hub of Chongqing’s automobile industrial development, has attracted automakers like Changan Automobile, Changan Ford, and Seres, along with nearly 200 core parts providers. This comprehensive ecosystem covers the primary supply chains from traditional gasoline cars to ICVs.

As the new energy vehicles penetration in Liangjiang New Area has already reached 23%, with an average price of nearly 170,000 yuan (about 23,599 U.S. dollars), the area is poised to enhance the industrial system and development ecology of ICVs, boosting Chongqing to build a world-class ICV industry cluster.
