The final of the 1st China Smart City Big Data Open Innovation Application Contest, one of the major events of 2019 Smart China Expo, was held by the China Industrial Design Institute Southwest Center on August 17. At the contest, 17 global teams vied to become the “super brain” of big data innovation.

The Organizing Committee of SCE sponsored the 1st China Smart City Big Data Open Innovation Application Contest. With the theme of Inclusive Data, Infinite Wisdom, the competition was open to the three major international competition areas of Europe, America, and Asia. After the preliminary competition and the semi-final, the finalists included 17 projects from the University of Manchester, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and other first-class and well-known universities at home and abroad, as well as national outstanding big data enterprises.

In the final, the 17 teams presented their proud works. The Anxiety Relieving team, researching depression caused by workplace stress, came up with the idea of “a phone booth for anxiety-relief,” hoping to reduce the work and life pressure of urban residents through setting up telephone booths and promoting the app. The iCity team proposed the scheme of “multi-source data-driven urban crowd identification and evacuation,” which provided a reference for the government to ensure public safety, for bus companies to improve operating efficiency and for a more convenient people mover. The Golden Data team put forward the method of “real-time monitoring and prediction of urban water supply networks,” providing more powerful guarantee for unobstructed water supply and drainage. In the warm atmosphere of the final, many fantastic ideas got thumbs and a friendly response up from the audience.

The awards ceremony would be held in the Conference Center of Chongqing International Expo Center on August 28, with nearly 200 people invited, including experts, scholars and the industry elite, as well as personages from major scientific research institutions, domestic and foreign universities, and competition teams.
