Singapore Signed 13 MOU With Chongqing Partners in Smart China Expo 2019

Chongqing — On 26 August, Tech companies from Singapore and China worked to strengthen communication and exchanges at the Smart China Expo 2019. On the first day of SCE 2019, 13 memoranda of understanding(MOU) were signed at Singapore Media Briefing and MOU Signing Ceremony by IMDA (Info-communications Media Development Authority) in Chongqing.

On the first day of the expo, Singapore and Chongqing signed 13 memoranda of understanding covering a wide range of areas. For instance, the augmented reality education systems at the preschool stage, the development of analytical solutions for the intelligent manufacturing market, and research collaborations in Artificial Intelligence.

Singtel and StarHub, Singapore’s telecommunication companies, have also signed MOU with China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom. The memoranda of understanding are expecting to strengthen the data connectivity between Chongqing and Singapore. And through signing the MOU, both sides of Sino-Singapore will position the other as a strategical hub respectively. Singtel will also provide capabilities in cloud technology, the Internet of things, and smart city solutions to help companies to accelerate their digital development.

More enterprise from Singapore came to Smart China Expo 2019

“The region of Chongqing and west China are an important market for Singapore tech companies. And we have seen more and more Chinese enterprise extend their business to Southeast Asia. Both sides are looking for an appropriate business partner,” said Tan Kiat How, Chief Executive of Singapore. He also stated the annual expo is an important platform for Singaporean companies to showcase their products and services. And it’s also a good opportunity to explore cooperation with Chinese companies.

As we know, Singapore has been the country of honor twice since the First Smart China Expo. This year’s Singapore delegation, led by IMDA, saw the number of participants increase by more than 50% and reached more than 60 enterprises. Singapore’s pavilion is located in the S1 area of the Chongqing International Expo Center and accounts for 3,000 square meters. It covers categories such as financial technology, Artificial Intelligence, data analysis, transport, and logistics.

Sino-Singapore ICM Joint Innovation Development Fund officially launched

At the same time, the Sino-Singapore ICM Joint Innovation Development Fund was formally launched at the Smart China Expo 2019. It is reported the fund is for supporting media innovation projects in information communication and promoting partnerships between Singapore and Chinese enterprises. The 40-million-yuan fund will support innovative projects jointly developed and implemented in Singapore or China, including the area of Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of things, VR, robotics, and blockchain technology.
