Release:ichongqing Time:2019-08-29 15:30:19

Canada was honored to partner with Smart China Expo 2019 and co-host the Intelligent Manufacturing Forum on August 26th. The Canada Pavillion at Smart China Expo 2019 also opened the same day, on the inaugural day of SCE.

Canada is known for many popular inventions such as light bulbs, the zipper, the telephone, insulin, the electron microscope, and IMAX, to name a few. Bolstered by strong academic institutions, advanced infrastructure, and a highly-skilled workforce, Canada is a world leader in science, technology, and innovation. Despite accounting for just 0.5% of the world’s population, Canada generates about 4% of global knowledge.

The cutting ceremony to launch the Canada Pavilion

Canadian manufacturers have long been leaders in pursuing investment in research, transforming discoveries into advanced products and technologies, and bridging the gap between research and the marketplace. Manufacturing is a cutting-edge, innovative, and powerfully diverse sector, relying on information technologies, additive manufacturing, automation systems, nanotechnology, and biotechnology. In 2016, the manufacturing industry was responsible for 32% ($6.6 billion) of all business enterprise research and development investments. Continued investment by manufacturers in innovation and other key productivity drivers, such as advanced machinery and equipment is crucial to their long-term success.

The cooperation signing

The cooperation signing between Canada and Chongqing`s companies

The Consulate General of Canada, based in Chongqing, has been working hard to promote advanced Canadian technologies, products, and services in southwest China, and facilitated Canadian firms’ cooperation with local companies. Canada is happy to see the major airlines in Southwest China have also adopted flight simulators from Canada’s CAE and TRU to conduct flight simulation training and evaluate their equipment and services. Furthermore, there are two global leading auto parts companies that set up in Chongqing, Magna, and Linamar. Electric vehicle company EMV has had joint production with Zongshen here in Chongqing as well. Canada is a leader in autonomous vehicle research and testing, with five key labs shaping the future of autonomous vehicles research, including the one from Blackberry QNX, which is with us today. The Canadian government is hoping to have more exchanges with Chinese partners in autonomous driving and many other sectors. STI is one of the Canadian government’s core business lines. Advanced Manufacturing is one of our TCS STI priorities sectors. And China has been its TCS STI priority market.
