On August 26, at the Preparatory Meeting for Western Digital Content Industry Annual Conference of the Smart China Expo, the China Western Digital Content Industry Alliance co-initiated by units of Chongqing, Sichuan, Shaanxi and other western provinces, regions and cities, and the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication (CAPP) was founded in Chongqing.

Through creating a high-quality ecosystem of a digital content industry that involves production chain, value chain, and innovation chain, the Alliance will further the rapid and healthy development of the digital content industry in Western China.

“After the establishment of the Alliance, emphasis will be placed on six aspects, including expediting the prosperity and development of digital content industry, building a collaborative innovation system, and strengthening cooperation in copyright protection,” said Wang Biao, Director of the Digital Publishing Institute of CAPP. “On the one hand, the Alliance will organize members to carry out overall policy investigation and research and provide decision-making consulting services for the digital publishing industry and governments on the difficulties, hotspots and focuses in the industry development. On the other hand, the Alliance will organize and coordinate member enterprises to make a breakthrough in digital publishing technology, motivate member units to independently innovate in technology, models, and services, and develop common basic technologies that have an important impact on the development of digital publishing industry.” Meanwhile, the Alliance will also organize its member units to formulate relevant group standards and regulations, and put forward suggestions for revision of laws and regulations of the industry in a timely manner by carrying out research on applicable laws and regulations, thus improving the industry’s legal system.

“Members will also launch all-round cooperation on digital publishing copyright protection, establish a copyright protection technology platform, a copyright trading platform, and a copyright interest protection platform to establish a synergetic system for digital publishing copyright protection, and cultivate digital publishing talent through project cooperation, team introduction, joint R&D, joint construction and appointment of temporary posts or exchanging posts,” said Wang Biao. “The establishment of the Alliance, the Western Digital Content Industry Annual Conference will be held in turn in the provinces and cities where the member units are located, making it a platform to display development achievements of the regional digital publishing industry, as well as exchange experience and discuss issues in the industry development.”
