The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chengdu was established on February 26, 2005, with a consular jurisdiction covering Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Guizhou. These provinces are located in Southwest China, and as the core area of the "Western Development" and the "Belt and Road" strategy being promoted by the Chinese government, are the region with the most dynamic economic development in China. There are over 5,000 permanent residents in the consular district, including Korean enterprises' staff, public institutions' staff, and individual businesses. The exchange and cooperation between the consular district and South Korea are expanding day by day. The Consulate faithfully fulfills its basic tasks, namely, ensuring the safety of Korean nationals, protecting the interests of Korean enterprises, enhancing the exchange and cooperation between the Consulate and South Korea in trade, economy, culture, science and other fields, and providing high-quality consular services to Korean nationals and compatriots.
